The 5000th 793 truck will be delivered to a mining customer in Australia. The largest populations of 793s are operating in Australia, North America and South America where the trucks work to mine iron ore, copper, coal, gold and other minerals.
Three new 2018 Cat® articulated trucks—730, 730 EJ (Ejector), and 735—replace their C Series predecessors and offer new operator stations, transmission-protection features, a new hoist-assist system, an advanced traction control system, new stability-assist system, and a fuel-saving ECO operating mode. The 730 and 730 EJ have 28 tonnes payload capacity and the 735 has 32 tonnes.
Peabody recently ordered a complete Cat longwall mining system for its North Goonyella Mine located in central Queensland, Australia. The Cat longwall system includes roof supports and a face conveyor for a 300-meter face, shearer and beam stage loader. The system features advanced longwall automation technology to enhance safety and production.
Caterpillar and Minetec, a wholly owned subsidiary of Codan Limited, announce an agreement for the development and delivery of technologies targeting underground hard rock mining challenges. The collaborative work will deliver best-in-class site solutions for mining customers. The integrated solutions will be offered as part of Cat® MineStar™.
Caterpillar and Rio Tinto have signed an agreement for retrofitting 19 Cat® 793F mining trucks for autonomous operation at the Marandoo iron ore mine in Western Australia. Caterpillar will also install Cat Command for hauling software for operation of the autonomous fleet.
