GEC set to start mining engineering course from July 2011

PANAJI: The state's lone government-run engineering institute, Goa College of Engineering (GEC) at Farmagudi, is planning to set up a new department of mining from the academic year 2011-12.

Sources said that the GEC has forwarded a proposal to begin a graduate course in mining engineering from the new academic year to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) through the state directorate of technical education. The institute plans to set up an independent department to run the course.
