Extensive damage but no deaths in Florida’s gas plant blasts

At least eight people were injured by a series of overnight explosions at a gas plant in the US state of Florida, likely caused by equipment failure and human error.

TV footage show over a dozen blasts rocking the Blue Rhino plant, northwest of Orlando, overnight, spreading panic among nearby residents and sending columns of flames into the sky.

John Herrell of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office told AP at least three of the workers wounded are in critical condition.

There were earlier reports of 15 missing workers, but everyone known to be there has been accounted for, he added.

The plant refills propane tanks for barbecues and other uses.
