European countries drawing up contingency plans for Greece exit: Reuters

Greece’s leaving just got real.

Reuters reports that all the euro zone countries are drafting contingency plans for Greece abandoning the single currency. European leaders are in Brussels today discussing the financial crisis, and bleak news out of the gathering has weighed on the markets.

Greece is pushing back against the report:

“The EWG agreed that each euro zone country should prepare a contingency plan, individually, for the potential consequences of a Greek exit from the euro,” said one euro zone official familiar with what was discussed on the call.

“Nothing was prepared so far on the euro zone level for now, for fear of leaks,” the official said.
