Eriez’ Trunnion Magnets Prolong Equipment Life in Ball/ SAG Mills

Erie, Pa. – Advanced Trunnion Magnets from Eriez® serve as the core of a powerful system for the automatic separation of worn and broken media from ball/SAG mill discharge. Trunnion Magnets ensure reliable removal of up to 98 percent of ball fragments to extend pump and hydrocyclone life.

Eriez’ Trunnion Magnets provide a tremendous rise in a mill’s productivity level by increasing mill throughput and preventing downtime due to premature wear, all at a low operating cost. Trunnion Magnets feature simple, yet rugged construction to provide reliable service with minimal maintenance.

The design consists of a drum that rotates around a fixed assembly of strong ferrite and Rare Earth magnets. Slurry is guided through a rubber-lined feedbox and then spread evenly across the drum surface where a strong magnetic circuit attracts and holds the broken media to the surface drum. Subsequently, the fragments are transported out of the production stream by the rotating drum and discharged into a separate hopper.

Eriez’ Application Specialists are available to assist customers in selecting appropriate design features based on specific mill capacity, ball size and other parameters.
