Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine
A new report details subpar investor returns in the mining industry over the last decade, particularly big cap diversified companies which have not adapted to new realities.
Emgold Mining (TSXV:EMR) announced that it expanded its Casa South property in Quebec, eastern Canada, with the addition of 24 mineral claims that occupy 1,320 hectares.
In a press release, Emgold said the total size of the property is now 204 claims totalling 11,400 hectares.
Casa South is located 80 kilometres south of La Sarre, immediately south of Hecla Mining’s (NYSE:HL) operating Casa Berardi mine and immediately north of IAMGOLD’s (TSX IMG), (NYSE: IAG) Gemini-Turgeon property.
Even though no mineral resources or reserves have yet been delineated at Casa South, Emgold said it is encouraged by the fact that the nearby Casa Berardi mine produced over 134,000 ounces of gold in 2019.
