Contractor fatally injured at BHP Billiton’s shale operations

On Sunday a contractor was fatally injured while working at BHP Billiton’s Eagle Ford shale operations in south Texas.

The name of the worker was not released nor were the circumstances that led to the injury.

BHP Billiton (NYSE:BHP) says operations were stopped while an investigation was conducted.

Eagle Ford is a shale formation spread across the southern US. BHP Billiton’s Marius Kloppers bought Petrohawk Energy, a leading oil and gas company that was working the Eagle Ford formation, for $12.1 billion in Aug. 2011.
