Ditem Explorations (TSX VENTURE:DIT) is pleased to announce that the summer exploration program on the Lalande property is now underway. Essentially, this first phase will consist of ground geophysical surveying, prospecting and geological mapping as well as channel sampling. The program should be completed by mid-August and an initial drill program is expected for this fall.
The Lalande property, situated in north-easternQuebecalong the North Shore of the St-Lawrence River, is mainly underlain by calc-alkaline granitic gneisses of the Aguanish Complex and minor amphibolites and supracrustal units including arenaceous sediments, volcaniclastic rocks, and migmatized aluminous gneiss. These units are cut by pink granitic intrusions and numerous pink pegmatite lenses. Rare earth mineralization is associated with pink biotite and monazite-rich quartz feldspar pegmatite within granitic intrusions.
In 1967 and 1968, magnetic and radiometric surveys as well as prospecting were undertaken and numerous radiometric anomalies were noted. In 1988, SOQUEM completed an exploration program with sampling and partial analysis of rare earth anomalous zones, including one zone within which grades up to 1.4% for La, Ce and Y, were identified and reported.
Ditem Explorations is an exploration and development company with properties in the Athabasca Basinin Saskatchewan (BeartoothIslandand CreeLake), the OtishBasin (Otish Uranium and Lac Henri) and on the NorthShorenear La Romaine (Lalande) in Quebec. Drilling is planned on the Otish Uranium property to confirm uranium mineralisation and initial programs are to be completed on the Lac Henri and Lalande rare earth properties this summer.
