Minsur to invest at least $2bn as it expands copper, tin operations

The LME is exploring whether to license a warehouse in Hong Kong as it seeks to strengthen services to clients in China.

The miner has agreed a sharp reduction to copper treatment and refining charges to $23.25 a metric ton and $2.325 cents a pound.

Both licenses are expected to be reinstated within 48 hours.

Key risks to Panama's economy include a potential loss of investment-grade status from credit rating agencies, further social unrest and international arbitration proceedings.

The mining firm, which has yet to publicly release data for May, produced 103,100 metric tons of the red metal in the month.

The pivot comes as the firm recovers from a record loss last year, ending a three-year winning streak.

Production from Ivanhoe's Kipushi zinc mine in Congo will now be split between several new buyers.

The KCM assets have also attracted interest from other investors, said Vedanta's chief executive for base metals.

The MVDP is expected to enable the mine to process 236 million tonnes of copper sulphide reserves over a life of 20 years.
