Fertilizer prices have soared to all-time highs as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and sanctions on Belarus threw a massive chunk of the world’s supply into disarray.
The country, and the province of Saskatchewan in particular, are capturing “renewed interest” in its potash resources due to disrupted supplies of the key fertilizer from Belarus and Russia.
Russia and Belarus account for about 40% of global potash output and exports, and sanctions and other restrictions imposed on the countries have “significantly constrained supply.”
