Mining sector says new tax would add uncertainty to investment decisions needed to help fill a global copper supply deficit.

Lithium prices have jumped almost 80% in China this year, with the recent power crunch in Sichuan, home to over one-fifth of the country’s lithium production, adding impetus to the rally.

They aim to produce 40 GW-hours of batteries annually at the plant — enough for more than 700,000 EVs, based on the IEA’s estimate.
