Congo reviews $6.2bn China mining deal as criticism grows
The contract, signed in 2008, promised a $3.2 billion investment by China in a copper/cobalt mine and another $3 billion worth of infrastructure projects.
The Arizona-based project is the first mining asset added to the FAST-41 process, which speeds up development of clean energy and other infrastructure.
"His words disregarded facts and confounded black with white. The Chinese side expresses its strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this," the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa said.
