A unit of Australian billionaire Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting has applied to the Federal Court for a judicial review of the rejection of the proposed $800 million Grassy Mountain steelmaking coal mine.
According to stakeholder intelligence firm Alva, labour relations contributed <1% material impact last quarter but it fell to -11% in Q2, as industrial action increases across the mining sector.
Construction began on 15 gigawatts of new coal power capacity in the first half, while companies announced 35 million tonnes of new coal-based steel-making capacity.
