CEO of world's top gold miner says copper boom is just beginning.

Company said that its total proved and probable ore reserves had risen by 71% to 104 million ounces of gold at the end of 2020.

The world's fourth-largest iron ore miner said it shipped 42.3 million tonnes of the steelmaking ingredient in the three months to March 31.

Company posted a 1.2% fall in third-quarter gold output, hit by lower production at its Lihir mine in Papua New Guinea and a slow recovery at its flagship Cadia mine.

Copper output was 82,042 tonnes, a jump of 46% from the same quarter a year earlier.

First production at Quellaveco project in Peru, which has the capacity to generate 300,000 tonnes of copper annually in its first 10 years of operation, is expected in 2022.
