CME Group has suspended from its platform aluminium produced in Russia from April 13

The London Metal Exchange (LME) on Saturday banned from its system Russian metal produced on or after April 13.

A UK official said London expected any market disruption to stabilize quickly.

An index of deals compiled by CRU shows the discount for copper ore – known as treatment and refining charges – has fallen to a record low in data going back to 1989.

The tension between demand and supply, coming as capital costs at mines rise while copper prices are slower to catch up, leads to significant price projections and concerns over the metal's availability.

The US is supporting a grant to Eramen Minerals to develop an ore-to-nickel and cobalt processing plant.

Bloomberg analyst says that investors find gold to be a better hedge against geopolitical risk than government bonds.

Tin is now up by 27% since the start of the year.
