Copper miners scramble for workers to supply green energy transition
With workers opting for jobs that are less physically demanding jobs and not in far-flung locales, attracting mining talent is now a key problem for the industry.
The simulators will be deployed at the Australian-first, Victorian Tunnelling Centre at Drummond Street campus, Chadstone, Victoria, which offers specialist training to workers in the mining, construction and tunnelling sectors.
The Miner of the Year award also recognizes that the Voisey’s Bay mine expansion (VBME) team had zero lost time injuries on the project since it started in 2015.
It will connect regional networks to become a collaborative, national innovation ecosystem under the leadership of the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation.
