Canadian miner Cameco (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ) began production Monday at its new North Butte uranium mine in Wyoming.

North Butte is projected to produce about 300,000 lbs of uranium concentrate in 2013. It is expected to ramp up to more than 700,000 lbs annually by 2015.

The Campbell county in situ mine is a satellite to the company’s Smith Ranch-Highland facility in Converse county mine.

Saskatchewan-based Cameco is one of the world’s largest uranium producers and the largest producer in the US.
