Canadian Apprenticeship Forum to host Supporting Equity in Trades Conference in Toronto

The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF-FCA) announced it will mark International Women’s Day on March 8 by reaffirming its commitment to breaking barriers and advancing opportunities for women and equity-priority groups in the skilled trades.

This year’s theme, "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment," is a powerful call to action—one that aligns with CAF's efforts to create inclusive apprenticeship pathways and ensure no one is left behind.

Building on the legacy of its Supporting Women in Trades (SWiT) Conferences in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022, CAF-FCA is hosting the first-ever Supporting Equity in Trades Conference on May 24-26, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario.

This conference expands the conversation beyond gender, recognizing the importance of intersectionality in achieving true equity. Empowering the next generation—particularly young women and apprentices—will be a key focus of the event.

"Equity in the trades isn’t just about access—it’s about ensuring every trades professional, regardless of gender, background, or identity, has the support and opportunities to thrive," CEO France Daviault said in a statement.

"At a time when the value of diversity and inclusion is being questioned in some parts of the world, we remain steadfast in our commitment. On IWD, we celebrate progress while recognizing the work still ahead. The SET Conference will be a space for action, collaboration, and lasting change—because building a strong workforce means embracing and empowering all who contribute to it."
