BHP Billiton has donated $500,000 to Red Cross emergency response to help communities impacted by recent bushfires in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

“BHP Billiton has had a long relationship with communities in New South Wales, where two of our core coal assets are based.  We hope this donation will assist Red Cross in helping the communities that have been affected by the bushfires in the region,” said BHP’s Coal President, Dean Dalla Valle.

The company will also commit two dollars for every one dollar donated by its employees.

BHP Billiton has over 4000 employees and contractors in New South Wales.
