The Toronto-based junior believes there is a possibility for an extension of a mineral belt from its Lost Cities - Cutucu project in Ecuador into northern Peru.
The facility is expected to be the first in the world to produce batteries to specifications of the vehicle manufacturer, rather than selling from a catalogue.
The permit supports the application for a trial mining license, which will allow for the processing of 100,000 tonnes of mineralized material per year.
