Botswana Diamonds gets environmental nod for Thorny River
Company expects the mining permit to be granted within the next six weeks, following further community consultations.
A unique pink Argyle and white diamond ring valued at $577,000 has been stolen from an auction centre in Sydney, Australia.
The piece of jewellery ring was snatched from a display counter around noon on Saturday and police has been unable to find it so far.
Each of the diamonds in the ring is laser inscribed with a serial number, New South West Police said in a statement Sunday.

About 90% of the world’s pink diamonds are sourced from the Argyle Diamond Mine in the East Kimberly region in Western Australia.
In October last year, a 2.51-carat fancy deep pink gem from the mine sold for more than $2 million — a record price for an Argyle diamond.

So trinkets such as these attract obscenely high values, and for those that can afford them that’s all fine and good.
But here’s the kick in the guts. It would be insured and there will likely be a payout. Fine, that’s what insurance is for right? Or is it? The funds going into the insurance fund is coming from many ordinary people that simply need protection on their essential assets. But when there is payouts for trinkets like this it is a transference of wealth to the already wealthy. It is exactly like when the US government bailed out the big banks in the aftermath of the GFC.
Capitalism needs a rethink……………..
