Mining’s old guard needs strong medicine
A new report details subpar investor returns in the mining industry over the last decade, particularly big cap diversified companies which have not adapted to new realities.
FLSmidth has been awarded a contract worth approximately $82 million from the company Allied Nevada Gold to supply equipment and services for its major Hycroft gold mine expansion. Hycroft is located about 200 km north-east of Reno, Nevada. The contract includes delivery of two 38 ft SAG mills and three 26 ft ball mills as well as a 22 ft regrind mill. The plant capacity will be over 100,000 t/d of gold and silver bearing ore. The capacity of the plant will make it the largest concentrator in size, in North America, ever put into operation in a single phase.
