Alberta to rake in billions from mining, and not just oilsands

Alberta is poised to become a major player in Canadian mining, says The Mining Association of Canada.

The Edmonton Sun reports that half of the country’s $140 billion in mining activity over the next five years will be centred in Alberta, with 12 projects slated for development by 2016:

The primary focus will be Alberta’s oil sands, however other significant investment is also anticipated in the lesser known commodities such as coal, limestone, salt, shale, dimension stone, ammonite shell, sandstone, sand and gravel.
