MICROMINE is excited to be attending the 60th anniversary celebrations of the East Kazakhstan State Technical University. The celebrations will take place on the 25th-27th September at the university’s headquarters in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
MICROMINE has a long association with the university dating back to 2005. EKSTU was the first tertiary institution in Kazakhstan to implement Micromine software into their teaching process and is currently providing students and professors with training in how to use Micromine.
EKSTU is regarded as one of the leading institutions in training highly skilled specialists in mining and metallurgy, engineering, architecture, construction, economics and information and communication fields. The Faculty of Earth Sciences was established in 1995 and specialises in mining and metallurgical studies. It currently has around 1300 students focusing on 8 specialised bachelor’s degrees in the mining field.
With abundant mineral deposits in the Republic of Kazakhstan, preparing the next generation of mining professionals is an important part of ensuring the future success of the industry. Graduates of EKSTU’s Earth Sciences faculty are renowned as some of the best in their field.
MICROMINE Regional Manager, Central Asia Erick Kanaev commented “We have been working closely with EKSTU’s mining and metallurgy students since 2005. During this time, students have been given the opportunity to further develop their skills in 3D modelling and mine design using Micromine software.”
During the visit, representatives from MICROMINE will be running a special master-class for students and teachers on the new functionality for Micromine 2018.
MICROMINE places a strong emphasis on developing future mining professionals and offers software licenses to tertiary institutions for academic approved courses, allowing students to experience 3D geological and mine modelling software first hand. The MICROMINE Academic Licensing Scheme has been introduced in over 115 academic institutions globally.
