Tahoe Resources (TSX: THO, NYSE: TAHO) announced this week the end of a strike carried out by 65 per cent of its workforce at the La Arena gold mine since April 22, 2018.

Workers were demanding higher profit-sharing payouts. However, the company has said that it addresses such payouts in accordance with the Peruvian labour law.

In a press release, the miner said that, following an agreement with the parties involved in the dispute, operations at La Arena were restarted. Normal production levels are expected to be reached throughout the weekend.

La Arena is an open pit, heap leach operation whose mineral reserves are estimated in 44 million tonnes with an average gold grade of 0.40 g/t containing 568,400 ounces of gold. In 2017, the mine produced 195,000 oz. of gold.

Less than a month ago, the same mine made headlines after an overfilled diesel tank spilled between 300 and 500 gallons of the fuel on the property’s ground. The accident was caused after a containment drain valve in the containment facility was left open on account of continuing rains.
