METS Ignited is one of six delivery vehicles of the Commonwealth Government’s Industry Growth Centre Initiative. The organisation’s mission is to strengthen Australia’s position as a global hub for mining innovation and to enhance the competitive advantage of the Australian mining equipment, technology and services (METS) sector. The vision is for an aligned, efficient and agile Australian METS industry eco system with a high degree of collaboration, global leadership in innovation and a growing share of the global market.
The Advisory Council supports METS Ignited’s delivery of the Government’s industry, innovation and science agenda. Key initiatives include the Living Labs Network, KPMG Accelerator Program and dollar for dollar funding for collaborative commercialisation projects.
The Council comprises senior representatives from exploration and mining companies, METS providers, research institutes and government including Dr Alan Bye, BHP Billiton, Dr Tony Filmer, Anglo American, Professor Göran Roos, UniSA, Anna Littleboy, CSIRO, Dr Peter Lilly, MRIWA, Robert Simpson, Xenith Consulting & NED, Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz, UWA and Holly Hyder, Geographe Enterprises.
