Ever since they got married, the Dukes of Cambridge have spurred a revived interest in Britain’s Royal Family.
From Netflix’s award-winning TV shows to entire books and documentaries have bloomed in the past six years.
The jewelry business also wants a piece of the revamped-popularity cake.
This is why Garrard, the company that has been creating custom tiaras, necklaces, bracelets, and so on for the Windsors for almost three centuries, is now creating replicas of the sapphire and diamond engagement ring worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, and that was later given by Prince William to Kate Middleton when he proposed.
The ring, inspired by a sapphire and diamond brooch presented to Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1840, displays 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a blue sapphire, set in 18 carat white gold.
Joanne Milner, the jeweller’s chief executive, told The Telegraph that the model has seen “a significant uplift in sales” in recent months. Russian and Chinese buyers are the ones expressing interest in the gem.
“In one week alone in December we had three orders for them, and had to work flat out to make them in time for Christmas,” she is quoted as saying.
The smallest version of the also called “Diana-style ring” starts at almost USD 8,000.
However, don’t get your hopes high. The jewel would never be exactly like the one the Princess has because the original one is treated by the maker as a bespoke piece.

Or may be its the other way around. May be Garrard ran out of ideas in creating new designs and thats why they are making replicas of the old jewelry. As long as the customers are accepting the product, its OK. Once the wealthy customers go to other jewelers, heads start rolling from the design teams.
In the last few years, there are some out of the world jewelry created by the likes of Graff diamonds. Or may be the royal family can not afford to buy such extraordinary jewelry and making do with replica of antique jewelry.

Just goes to show how little people know about gemstones. Created sapphires are pretty cheap – especially the aluminium oxide glass versions while natural red stones like red spinel and red zircons have more fire than Burmese Rubies .

Some jewelers or buyer go online and buy jewelry in cheap rate, everyone can not afford Kate Middleton’s diamond ring.
