Leading Australian dust management company Reynolds Soil Technologies (RST) has developed and launched a new product called RAPID, an instantly effective dust suppressant for unsealed trafficked areas on mining sites that greatly improves dust control efficiencies.

The latest in RST’s innovative range of products, Rapid is added to water, allowing the solution to be quickly absorbed to suppress dust lift-off from continually watered unsealed ground and roads and minimising the stickiness of wet clay soils.
The Rapid solution reduces water evaporation, delivering substantial cost and water savings by reducing the amount of water required per square-metre to achieve the optimum Dust Control Efficiency (DCE), significantly extending time between repeat water applications, improving fleet optimisation.
Created with operational optimisation in mind, Rapid dilutes easily into water carts or spray systems, reduces upfront implementation costs and is particularly effective when used with salt or mineralised water.
Rapid is suitable for use in all climates, environmentally friendly and is applied topically to produce instant results, with watering requirement reductions of at least 50% regularly achieved by users.
RST operations and technical director David Handel said Rapid was developed through RST’s ongoing research and development programs.

The application of Rapid is simple, with a small amount of the solution added directly into each load of water being applied topically to the unsealed trafficked ground or road to achieve the desired Dust Control Efficiency, with the frequency of applications reducing with ongoing product build-up.
Dosage rates are dependent on water quality and material types, with dilution ranging from 1:1,000 to 1:10,000, with a range of dosing pumps available from RST to inject the correct dosage into each water cart.
