When the folks at Canada’s Yukon Chamber of Mines published a social media post last week intended to promote the territory’s mining industry, they never thought so many people would be offended by it.
Far from serving its purpose, the tongue-in-cheek tweet has since been the target of relentless criticism, with some labelling it as “offensive” and “xenophobic.”
The day after Donald Trump won the US Presidential election, the organization tweeted out “Hey @realDonaldTrump, we hear you’re interested in walls…” alongside an image of the beginnings of a brick wall and a slogan that reads “Yukon mining produces the BEST wall building materials.”
“This is insanely inappropriate,” tweeted Brianne Bremner.
“I had no idea you had anything to do with building walls, and now I know you think #xenophobia and #racism are funny. Not cool,” posted Neil Macdonald.
“Top #1 most embarrassing Yukon Miners moment,” said local musician Gordie Tentrees.
As of Tuesday, the controversial tweet remains up, but the same post has been deleted from the chamber’s’ Facebook page.

With regards to the Yukon Chamber Of Mines comment to Mr. Trump: nothing wrong with what they tweeted at all. It’s all the feedback comments that gets me. Why are people acting like the childish immature people in the U.S.? Making the same kind of comments. Monkey See, Monkey do! Come on! Grow up!

Stop whining and crying!! What? do the liberals have to buy you a bigger diaper? When we take back our White House you are going to be in the fetal position on our front lawn in mental hysterics. You are now on the defensive and that is always the worst position to have. You’re crying because you know we will ride high again.

The Yukon Chamber of Mines made a poor decision to use sarcasm as a means of promoting mining activities. They should consider alternate ways of promoting mining that do not tap into the divisiveness in the USA. You will land up losing 50% of potential customers for the industry and once again put a negative spotlight on mining in general. Most people remember the movie AVATAR and who the ‘bad guys’ were.

Trying to be politically correct again – eh?
The most simple and accurate definition for being ‘politically correct’ has to be – being incredibly stupid.
And our left-leading media, along with our army of whimps, whiners, and bleeding hearts have been busy using it to undermine our basic human right to freedom of expression.
At one time the media were the champions of those human rights.
How sick, sick, sick ….

Love the Trudopian comment. All or most of these liberal progressives need is a weekend trip to Venezuela to see how socialism and loss of freedom of speech works. What, no dried milk or toilet paper on the shelves? A hot shower and a shave would also help them get perspective.
