Future of energy under the spotlight at IMARC

More than 2,500 mining leaders, policy makers, financiers and other experts from more than 55 countries will today converge in Melbourne for Australia’s largest international mining and resources event.

The International Mining and Resources Conference starts today and runs until Thursday 10 November 2016 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The four-day event will cover all aspects of mining, from exploration, investment and production through to optimisation, technology, health and safety, policy and governance.  Decision makers from over 150 mining companies will be in attendance to learn from more than 160 international experts.

IMARC also includes Australia’s leading mining investment forum, Mines and Money Australia, which connects miners with money and investors with opportunity.

IMARC Event Director Anita Richards said today’s conference would see the launch of Future Energy and Finance, recognising that the outputs from mining are largely the inputs for the energy industry.

“The energy market is transforming across the world as countries and economics develop and grow.  This is fuelling demand for new energy projects, improved energy efficiency and a focus on traditional and renewable energy sources,” she said.

“Today, IMARC explores the future of global energy and the implications for financing and investing in energy, along with new technology to increase generation, efficiency and storage, while also cutting emissions.”

A number of key workshops will also be held today, including:

  • METS Ignited Disruptive Technologies Workshop
  • RungePincockMinarco Mining for Non-Miners Workshop
  • Mining Law & Transactions Workshop (AM) – Structuring Mining & Resources Transactions
  • Mining Law & Transactions Workshop (PM) – Off-take, Marketing, Streaming and Take or Pay Agreements
