After saying goodbye to Frank Giustra earlier this year, Canada’s Endeavour Mining, a multi-operation gold mining company with presence in Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Ghana, announced today the appointment of Livia Mahler and Olivier Colom as independent non-executive directors.

Colom’s designation is particularly interesting, given his long-standing involvement in the governmental and foreign relations realms, and extensive experience in African affairs.

He is the current chairman of OC Advisory and recently stepped out from Edmond de Rothschild Group’s Executive Committee, but previously served at the French Foreign Office, where he helped reform France’s development aid programme. Later on, he specialized in European Union issues.

In 2007, he took on the role of diplomatic advisor and deputy “Sherpa” to President Nicolas Sarkozy, where he was responsible for international economic matters, climate change negotiations, development aid and global governance reform.

Livia Mahler, on the other hand, is currently an independent director and Chair of the Compensation Committee and member of the Audit Committee at Ivanhoe Mines. She is also President and Chief Executive Officer of Computational Geosciences Inc. Computational Geosciences, which provides geophysical data processing services to the mining and oil & gas industries.

With over 20 of venture capital experience with a Canadian focus, Mahler previously served on the Audit and Compensation committees of Diversified Royalty Corp., Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd., and DuSolo Fertilizers Inc.
