Trolex – unifying brilliant design with practical function

“In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need to market what we make–people would just know and identify the quality and the functionality of the product based on its look. When we imagine
perfect design, it’s not only full of well-made, functional products, it’s also full of clients who recognise them instantly without needing to think.”

These are the views of Trolex Group Limited Managing Director Glyn Pierce-Jones, who is taking the next important step in developing his company’s profile in the key industries of
mining, oil & gas and transportation with the appointment of a Brand Integrity and Mechanical Design Engineer.

“Right from the very earliest types of industrial design, all the things that have been created have a rationale behind it,” says Glyn.

“Design has always benefited from the in-built integrity of expressing functional excellence. At Trolex we are committed to bringing the two disciplines – brand and function – together in a
very powerful way so that the customers and the market in general benefit from easy to use and intuitively built products.”

Trolex is a UK company, which is expert in the development and supply of rapid-deployment, highly flexible, easy to use safety monitoring, and efficiency systems in safety critical
industries such as mining, tunnelling, offshore and transportation.

Across all of these industries the company is increasingly committed to improving the quality of its design, such that the easy-to-use, attractive and rugged designs regularly used in everyday household products, is increasingly being applied to the company’s own product range of industrial components.

“I always make the comparison with the today’s everyday modern tools such as smartphones. We have such high expectations of these devices, demanding that we can use the keypads, view the screens and generally handle them in such a way that we can execute every requirement, easily and seamlessly,” says Glyn.

“Why should we expect miners and offshore staff to have to peer at, for example, unfeasibly small, poorly-lit screens, or deal with components that are hard to move and are challenged by a short battery life. At Trolex we want to take the experience of household convenience to mines and heavy industries.”

In order to meet this ambitious goal in September Trolex will be welcoming its latest recruit, Kyle Hudson, the company’s new Brand Integrity and Mechanical Design Engineer.

A Product Design Consultant with a comprehensive and adaptive skill set, demonstrated through successful product delivery within medical, military, fire and rescue, mining and consumer markets, Kyle has a First Class Industrial and Product Design Honours Degree from Loughborough University.

“Kyle brings with him extensive experience of matching and exceeding client expectations through applied design thinking and strategy. His experience includes effective project
planning and task resourcing to enable project deliverables, management of design teams and development of client relationships. We’re excited about his appointment: design
promises to be one of our key differentiators in the future,” says Glyn.
