The ranks of the Fellows of Engineers Canada have a new representative from Saskatchewan following the designation of Stantec’s Ashok Thakkar at the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) Awards banquet held May 7 at the Adam Ballroom, Delta Bessborough in Saskatoon.
The fellowships honor individuals who have given noteworthy service to the engineering profession through their work with either Engineers Canada or its provincial and territorial engineering regulatory bodies—in this case, APEGS.
Based in Saskatoon, Thakkar has more than 25 years of professional experience in multi-discipline industrial design, engineering, project and engineering management, delivery (capital, up-gradation and re-vamping), and quality for EPC, EPCM, manufacturing, operation and fabrication in process, oil, chemical, mining, and mineral processing industries.
“Ashok’s dedication to his profession, the mining community, and his clients’ projects make him an excellent addition to the Fellows of Engineer’s Canada,” says Steve Rusk, Stantec’s vice president for mining in Canada. “We are so pleased his efforts to develop creative solutions for upgrading and de-bottlenecking mining and industrial projects throughout Canada is being recognized.”
