Germany Chancellor plans lithium deal with Serbia after Rio ruling
Olaf Scholz plans to visit Serbia this week to secure supplies of lithium that are critical for the nation’s energy transition and auto industry.
A rare blue diamond ring that belonged to former child star Shirley Temple is going Sotheby’s hammer in New York next month at a starting price of $25 million.
The 9.54-carat Fancy Deep Blue diamond ring, which has remained in its original Art Deco-inspired setting— was given to the famous Hollywood actress by her father in 1940, around the time of the actress’ 12th birthday and when her film “The Blue Bird” premiered. Temple’s father paid $7,210 for the ring, the auction house said.

Shirley Temple died in 2014 at the age of 85. She pursued a career in politics after leaving the entertainment industry, serving as US ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia.
The ring will be auctioned on April 19 as part of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale, and it is believed to be worth up to $35 million.
In November, the auction house set a new world auction record for any diamond or gemstone ― as well as a record price-per-carat for any diamond or gemstone ― when a 12.03-carat Fancy Vivid Blue diamond sold for $48.5 million.
