Since their initial involvement four years ago in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation’s epic fundraising event, Hatch has demonstrated that it is a company that also cares about conquering cancer. They have easily earned the event’s Corporate Challenge Cup for their remarkable participation and fundraising in each of those four years.
Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is a one-day road hockey event in which teams play five games through the course of the day. In 2016, the event will take place on Saturday, September 24.
To illustrate Hatch’s extraordinary support of cancer research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Hatch participants have raised a staggering $837,450 over the four years they have been involved in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, including a personal-best $218,615 in 2015.
Bruce MacKay, Hatch’s Managing Director, Systems and Process Control, is the driving force behind this initiative. Much of his motivation is derived from both his family connection to cancer and the focus on linking engineering to cancer research, as supported by the company’s late founder, Gerald Hatch.
“Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer is one of Hatch’s major fundraising initiatives in the Greater Toronto Area,” states MacKay. “Cancer has touched the lives of many of our staff and their families, so this cause really hits home.
