Rio Tinto names Shell’s Katie Jackson as new copper chief
Jackson, who is the current president of National Grid Ventures, an energy group, joins Rio Tinto on September 1.

Canadian miner Minera IRL (TSX:IRL)(LON:MIRL) has resumed operations at its Corihuarmi gold mine in central Peru after reaching an agreement with locals who had taken control of the asset over the weekend.
Diego Benavides, president of the company’s Peruvian unit told Semana Económica (in Spanish) they have extended a social contract they have with locals until 2018, which reassured protesters Minera IRL remains committed to funding community development projects.
The stoppage did not impact Corihuarmi’s output and there was no damage to the mine, the company said in a statement.
The Latin America-focused precious metals miner has also been struggling with community relations near its Ollachea exploration gold project, in southern Peru.
