Laser Technology, Inc. Addresses Safer and More Effective Tactics for Blast Design

TP200X Face Profiler

January 26, 2015 – Laser Technology, Inc., (LTI), the leading designer and manufacturer of laser-based solutions for professional measurement and mapping, and Robert McClure, President of RAM, an independent blast design consulting firm, will be cohosting a webinar about serious challenges and viable solutions for the mining and blasting industries on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at 10 AM (MST).

According to the National Mining Association (NMA), there is a total of six billion metric tons of non-fuel mineral materials mined in the U.S. The reported statistics are that 97 percent of these domestic materials were mined and quarried using surface methods, which persuasively demonstrates the need for safe, effective blast design processes. Considering the regulations mandated by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and the overall liability taken on when using explosives in the vicinity of a residential community, all necessary precautions need to be considered and taken very seriously. It only takes one major accident or serious incident to be dropped by insurance companies and be shut down for good.

This upcoming webinar will cover important safety factors when blasting and how to ensure you are always in full compliance with MSHA. Explosive engineers and mining professionals only have one shot to get it right, so smart planning is everything. It’s all about designing a good blast to minimize fly rock, manage air overpressure and make the blast as productive as possible. This webinar addresses challenges blasting professionals face and why having a solid plan, the right tools and proper training can make all the difference.

Anyone who registers for and attends “The New Face of Blast Design” webinar will be registered to win a complete laser-based rock face profiling system. Attendees who visit LTI booth number 314 at this year’s International Society of Explosives Engineering’s Annual Conference February 1 – 4, 2015, can also enter to win the LTI system. Attend both, and the chance to receive a laser-based profiling system doubles. Register here. For more information, please visit LTI’s Blast Design page, or use our contact form.

About RAM

As an international independent consulting firm, RAM offers innovative and advanced technical support, training, services and solutions for blast design and explosive applications in civil, military, government, construction, mining, demolition and seismic operations. Mr. McClure is a certified instructor for MSHA and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), is an active member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers (ISEE) and was honored with the Presidential Award in 2011.

About LTI

Laser Technology, Inc. has been a pioneer in the laser measurement industry for over 28 years and was the first to successfully integrate a reflectorless distance laser with a tilt sensor and an electronic compass. This resulted in the creation of the TruPulse® 360: a handheld, pocket-size laser delivering three-dimensional measurements with onboard solutions for heights, span between remote points and values used for GPS offsets in reference to magnetic north. Field data collection and mapping applications for LTI technology include mining, forestry, telecommunications, construction, government, GIS and more.
