Singaporean consortium secures $850m for South32’s Australian coking coal
South32 said in February it had agreed to sell the business in New South Wales state for $1.65 billion.

Somalia and North Korea are tied as the worlds most corrupt countries, according to a survey released by Transparency International.
The Corruption Perceptions Index 2014 is based upon “expert opinion” and measures the “perceived levels of public sector corruption”.
“A poor score is likely a sign of widespread bribery, lack of punishment for corruption and public institutions that don’t respond to citizens’ needs,” writes the survey’s authors.
Countries that are the least corrupt are Denmark at number one and New Zealand at number two respectively.
Canada ranked 10th with Australia just below it at 11th. The USA was 17th.

I find it difficult to conceive of Somalia and North Korea being categorised as countries.

A definition of Corruption ( as used ) and some examples to back up this “expert opinion” would be good, also the identities and nationalities of the ‘Experts’.

We get the idea…. however, the questions of what cultural norms/standards and laws are used to evaluate “corruption” are valid. If one were to take the standpoint of considering population, it looks like a pretty high degree of corruption is accepted in most countries… maybe their definition and acceptance of “corruption” should be the norm.

On the above page a quote: “In 2013, Canadian-headquartered mining and exploration companies accounted for nearly 31% of global exploration expenditures. In 2013, over 50% of the world’s publically listed exploration and mining companies were headquartered in Canada. These 1500 companies had an interest in some 8000 properties in over 100 countries around the world.” You can not have that many interests that are corruption free when 50% of the players are from Canada.
Make sure you do your research if looking for an “ethical mining company”. This guy must have a lot of mining stocks he needs to unload on unsuspecting and the gullible. BT Barnum used to say ” such were born every minute”
