Russian diamond mining giant Alrosa said Wednesday it sold almost $3 million of polished diamonds at an international auction of polished goods, from September 10 to 19, that took place as part of the Hong Kong Gem & Jewellery Fair.
Alrosa said that 56 companies participated in the auction as bidders, and that “according to the results of the auction, there is a stable demand for polished diamonds on the market.”
The miner reported that 65 lots of polished diamonds with a total weight of 192.91 carats were sold for $2.976 million.
Alrosa said that the largest polished stone in the auction, a fancy yellow color diamond, weighing over 16 carats, was sold for $468,000. The most expensive one, a traditional round 10-carats white diamond was sold for $592,360.
