In May of 2013, Caterpillar and Seeing Machines entered into a global alliance to promote and distribute the Driver Safety System (DSS) through Caterpillar’s global dealer network.

The Driver Safety System has over 2,500 units working in the field today providing customers with an innovative solution to manage and mitigate operator distraction and fatigue. Caterpillar and Cat Dealers are supporting industry safety by providing the DSS and Cat MineStarTMDetect to raise employees’ awareness of risks in, on and around heavy equipment.
As heavy equipment is being used more and more in 24/7 shift work industries, customers are actively looking for additional technology solutions. Since Cat’s Driver Safety System was installed in its first haul truck five years ago, the system has already captured nearly 2 million fatigue and distraction events. The Driver Safety System is unique because it identifies fatigue and distraction as simple, observable events which are easily communicated and understood by drivers.
Several Cat dealers have already become exclusive DSS sales and service providers for their customers beginning with Wagner Equipment, and followed by MATCO, GECOLSA, and most recently WesTrac in Australia.
