China copper smelters plan to cut output after margins fall
The output cuts underscore the industry’s struggle with a shortage of feedstocks caused by recent mine production setbacks.

A pear and cushion-shaped diamond and emerald necklace, having two Golconda diamonds, will go under Christie’s hammer Tuesday in Hong Kong, with experts expecting it to fetch up to $10 million.
The rock is the centrepiece of a diamond and emerald necklace, known as “The Eye of Golconda,” is the largest gem of its kind ever available for auction in Asia, according to the auction house.
The Indian medieval region of Golconda is universally famous for the mines that have produced the world’s most famous and coveted gems, including the Hope Diamond, Idol’s Eye, the Koh-i-Noor and the Darya-i-Noor.
These precious gems are often described as “diamonds of first water,” characterized by an almost indefinable water-clear appearance that attest to their diaphanous quality and a degree of transparency rarely seen in stones from other localities, Christie’s says.
The diamond is the largest gem of its kind ever available for auction in Asia.
The auction, consisting of over 300 lots, also includes a 9.38 carats pear-shaped pink diamond, estimated to be worth between $5.8 million and $8.3 million.
Apart from this, a range of vividly saturated Burmese rubies and sapphires, Colombian emeralds and exclusive vintage pieces from Bulgari — an Italian jewellery and luxury goods company — among others will be a part of the Hong Kong auction.
