Simplifying measuring tasks on-site with the new Leica iCON builder 60 and iCON robot 60 series

(NORCROSS-GA, 15 May 2014) – Leica Geosystems has launched two new total stations, the iCON builder 60 and the iCON robot 60, both built especially with construction workers in mind and providing an entry into the world of Leica Geosystems’ intelligent CONstruction (iCON) solutions. The easy-to-use total stations focus on foremen and site supervisors, and come with integrated software that runs on a variety of different iCON devices. Designed for optimised workflows, the new iCON builder 60 and robot 60 series complete routines faster and simplify a variety of tasks in the building & construction industry, for engineering and infrastructure applications as well as for BIM.

The two-person operated iCON builder 60 as well as the one-person operated iCON robot 60 total stations come with the onboard iCON build or iCON site software, which is also integrated in the recently announced powerful and robust iCON CC55 PDA and CC65/66 tablets that can be used as a data logger or controller. By using the same clear menus and graphics found on all iCON devices, training and support is significantly minimised. Foremen and site supervisors can now easily layout lines, points and arcs; check built structures against the design; measure areas or block volumes of concrete or plaster stones.

Leica iCON robot 60 – saving time with efficient one-person operation

Using the same onboard software as the manual iCON builder 60 total station, the iCON robot 60 saves time by working even more efficiently. Based on the latest technology, it ensures outstanding robotic performance even in demanding conditions. Using the Cube Search together with the ‘Target Snap’ function ensures the correct prism is tracked with minimal search time. With the prism and the controller on the pole, the user can focus on his task of being always in full control of where a point is measured.

Simple automated setup process

By using the unique, fully-automated ‘Setup Pilot’ feature of the iCON robot 60, users can simplify and accelerate the daily task of setting up the robotic total station. It’s reliability increases user’s trust, resulting in higher efficiency.

Connected on-site to BIM operators with telematics

Users working in the BIM industry can additionally profit from the new iCONstruct telematics option for the iCON robot 60 that connects the BIM operator with the layout crews in the field, allowing for online file exchange and remote support.
