UK gold coin sales jump on concerns over Labour’s fiscal plans
While the possibility of a capital gains hike by Labour adds to the coins’ appeal, it’s one of many potential drivers for the Mint’s increased sales.
If all goes as planned, junior miner Fortune Minerals (TSX:FT) will operate three projects in Canada in the foreseeable future.
The company has been busy securing permits over the past year, successfully obtaining an interim land use permit for its NICO gold-cobalt-bismuth-copper mine in the Northwest Territories and most recently scoring environmental approval for its metals processing plant in Saskatchewan.
But not everything has gone as smoothly. Protesters stalled the company’s environmental assessment process last summer at its Arctos Anthracite project in British Columbia. Fortune has stepped back to let the BC government negotiate a settlement.
Opponents also gathered at the company’s open house in Saskatchewan recently, voicing their opposition to the processing plant.
