Freeport Indonesia to process 400,000t of copper concentrate at new smelter
Earlier this month, Freeport obtained an export permit for the rest of the year from the government.
Canada has signed a Nuclear Cooperation Agreement with Kazakhstan, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird announced last week.
“The signing of the Nuclear Cooperation Agreement demonstrates growing bilateral relations between Canada and Kazakhstan, and marks our shared commitment to expanding cooperation in the nuclear sector in a safe and secure manner,” said Baird.
Canada exports roughly $1 billion of uranium every year and its nuclear industry produces over $5 billion worth of electricity. Canada is no. 2 globally in annual uranium output.
“This agreement will provide an opportunity for our countries to work together,” said resources minister Joe Oliver.
“It will provide access for members of Canada’s nuclear industry to Kazakhstan’s expanding nuclear market and facilitate the exploration of joint commercial ventures and research and development.”
