Gatos Silver posts solid 2024, preps takeover by First Majestic
The deal will merge Gatos’ main Cerro Los Gatos mine with First Majestic’s San Dimas mine in Durango, and its Santa Elena operation in Sonora.
The Ontario government is planning to open a trade office in Calgary in the next few months to facilitate oil sands business for Ontario companies.
Currently 1,000 Ontario firms are involved in Alberta’s energy industry.
“We think there can be a lot more,” said Eric Hoskins, Ontario Economic Development Minister.
“Alberta companies regularly come to us and say ‘we’ve got a need’. We help them source it…Ontario’s got to be there on the ground, building relationships and creating networking opportunities for our companies.”
The annual cost of running the office is pegged at roughly $500,000. Alberta-Ontario annual trade is currently worth $44 billion.
