Houston, Texas – 21 October 2013: AVEVA announced today that it is presenting at the 16th Annual International Symposium of the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center on the 23rd of October at 4:30 p.m. Its presentation, entitled ‘Leveraging Multi-User Virtual Plant Environments and 3D Interactive Visualization to Optimize Plant Safety’, identifies operational use cases that pose the greatest safety risks and challenges, and how currently available ‘virtual plant’ technologies enable these to be addressed.
“Investigation of process plant incidents demonstrates all too well the significant role that human behaviour plays in operational safety,” said William Muldoon, Executive Vice-President – North America, AVEVA. “The inability to access, understand and effectively use information is often cited as a leading cause of plant safety incidents and unplanned shutdowns. This presentation will demonstrate why an innovative Industrial Gaming solution should be a key component of an Operational Excellence program, helping to build and sustain a zero-incident safety culture that reduces or mitigates operating risks.
“We are looking forward to presenting at the MKOPSC Symposium. We have had a long association with the Safety Centre and are the only engineering software company on the committee. We are also very proud that a research paper entitled ‘Development of an Effective Framework for Shift Handover’ that we are currently working on with them will also debut at the Symposium ahead of its full launch next year.”
AVEVA is also an exhibitor at the Symposium, of which the theme for 2013 is ‘Beyond Regulatory Compliance – Making Safety Second Nature’. The event is an important forum where industry, academia, government agencies and other stakeholders come together to discuss critical issues and research in process safety. Experts from across the globe will gather to share the latest information on the most significant topics aimed at making the process industry a safer place. It takes place October 22nd to 24th, 2013 at the Hilton Conference Center – College Station, Texas. For further information visit: www.aveva.com/events/mkopsc-2013.
