Arcadium acquires Li-Metal’s technology, pilot plant in $11 million deal
Arcadium will also provide lithium to Li-Metal as part of a long-term offtake agreement.
SASKATOON – In 2010, PapaBravo’s original prototype electric vehicle, the Gofer-EV, exceeded everyone’s expectations when tested both above and below ground. It didn’t take long until the side project became highly sought after by Saskatchewan potash mines and has since been covered by international mining publications and featured on CBC. Following the Gopher-EV prototype, the development of other electric vehicles of different sizes and capabilities followed including a 4 x 4 one ton that also runs 120km off of one battery charge.
The Western Development Museum is no longer only reflecting on the past, they recently began collecting Saskatchewan made innovations and approached PapaBravo to donate and preserve their Gofer-EV prototype in the museum. Founder Patric Byrns agreed and now his introductory electric vehicle will be featured ongoing in the “Fueled by Innovation” exhibit featuring other advances made by Saskatchewan inventors.
After the official product launch in October of 2011, PapaBravo Innovation’s (PBI) electric utility vehicles have become the product of choice for underground mining companies wishing to decrease diesel particulate matter (DPM) and ventilation costs in their underground environment. The engineering firm recently expanded into a new 34,000 square foot facility to continue innovating electric vehicle technology. Their future plans include launching a product that is focused on replacing heavy diesel operated equipment underground in mines around the world.
