NCS Technology’s Software Proves Invaluable for First Quantum

SUDBURY, Canada (October 2, 2013)- NCS Technology Inc. continues to increase its market share in Africa with their recent sale to First Quantum Minerals Ltd.’s Sentinel Mine in Zambia.

“We are very pleased to be part of the Sentinel Project,” says NCS Technology’s CEO Chris Novak. “Our software Centric, will provide the Sentinel management team with a comprehensive ore tracking and KPI reporting environment which will empower them to act on knowledge, rather than spend time gathering data.”

Novak continues to explain that, “Centric’s ability to integrate fleet management systems, historical data and manual processes into a single source, provides an effective platform for monitoring KPIs that are the strategic business drivers for Sentinel. This is an exciting project for us which has increased our presence in the African mining market.”

Sentinel is the second mining operation owned by First Quantum to implement Centric for the purposes of ore tracking, reconciliation and operational KPI reporting. Centric was commissioned in early 2013 at FQML’s Kevitsa mine in northern Finland, to provide a complete picture of the mining value chain and its related activities through real time dashboards and operational reporting.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. and Sentinel

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. currently operates 7 mines producing copper, nickel, gold, zinc and platinum group metals. With development projects in Zambia, Peru, Panama and the acquisition of Inmet Mining Corporation in 2013; FQML is experiencing rapid growth.

The Sentinel project is located 150 kilometers west of Solwezi in north-west Zambia, and is part of the Trident project. The mine life is estimated to be a minimum of 15 years, with a targeted throughput rate of 55 million tonnes per annum of ore at an average grade of 0.5% copper.

NCS Technology

For mining managers who are dissatisfied with the lack of information sharing across the value chain, NCS’s software will transform data into knowledge providing a single source of information.

With offices in Sudbury, Canada and Perth, Western Australia, NCS Technology provides mining businesses worldwide with comprehensive tools for monitoring the success of their mining enterprise.
