SGS and Raven Ridge Resources are pleased to announce a Cooperation Agreement to provide integrated coalbed methane (CBM) and coal mine methane (CMM) consultancy and services capability. SGS’ proven capabilities in coal analysis (Minerals Services) as well as gas analysis, subsurface consultancy and well side services (Oil, Gas and Chemicals Services), allows the company to provide global field and lab analysis services to complement Raven Ridge Resources’ CBM and CMM technical expertise.
The SGS / Raven Ridge team has the capability to fully measure and define methane production potential contained in coalbeds and surrounding strata. This includes the ability to:
• Delineate, map and quantify the gas resources and reserves associated with coal;
• Forecast CBM and CMM production potential;
• Design CMM projects and assist in establishing greenhouse gas accounting measures to qualify for emission credits created from methane recovered, used/destroyed and hence not liberated during the coal mining life cycle; and,
• Recommend best practices for CMM drainage in underground coal mines to promote safe and healthy working conditions.
This collaboration is grounded in the complementary services offered globally by each company and combines market leading technical expertise, operational excellence and proven performance in all phases of CBM and CMM work.
