Mine worker killed at Endeavour Silver’s Guanacevi Mine

An underground rockfall killed a mine worker on Sunday at Endeavour Silver’s Guanacevi mine in Durango State, Mexico.

The company said that the area remains closed while the Company and the Mexican authorities complete a full investigation. Other areas remain open and production has not been affected.

“We are greatly saddened by this tragic accident and extend our sincere condolences to the victim’s family, friends and colleagues,” said Bradford Cooke, CEO of Endeavour in a news release.

“Safety is a top priority for Endeavour and once the investigation is complete, Endeavour will review and implement any additional safety measures recommended to prevent such an accident from recurring.”

According to InfoMine mine summary, the Guanacevi mineral deposits occur as an epithermal low sulphidation, quartz-carbonate, fracture-filling vein hosted by a structure that trends approximately N45°W and dips 55° southwest.
